Tanner and Associates is recruiting a Principle Formulation Scientist to supervise a team of scientists for a major consumer products company in Los Angeles.
Description
Candidate will be responsible to:
- Develop novel skin care product formulations to meet specified market/consumer needs
- Supervise/guide scientists and technicians
- Possess expertise in skin care and sun care product development
- Coordinate all technical and market qualification activities of new product launches
- Meet long-term and short-term timelines
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills to synthesize data and provide business relevant recommendations
- Remain consumer focused
- Effective communication skills
- Evaluate and champion new ingredients/technologies
- Assist marketing in technical learning and ingredient function
Qualifications
Required:
- BS, MS or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of consumer cosmetic industry experience
- Extensive formulation experience in developing cosmetic skin care products
- Experience in developing facial moisturizer treatments and suncare products
- Thorough understanding of the scientific principles of formulation, ingredient chemistry and industry trends
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, colleagues and in teams
- Leadership ability to train and guide others
Preferred:
- Familiarity with current regulatory requirements in the skincare industry (OTC and non-OTC)
- Excellent people management skills
- Be comfortable with complexity and ambiguity
